Effective Leadership

When flying back from Newcastle I got interested in the Flybe Business magazine. I was curious to see an article about the qualities needed for effective leadership (or ‘Leaders with Edge’) that identified many of the qualities that Thrive addresses in its Base Line Skills Assessment and Thrive training.

These include: self awareness, an ability to challenge and have difficult conversations; negotiating skills (needing direction, focus and purpose), resilience and resourcefulness, adaptability and a capacity to deal with ambiguity, confidence and presence, mental toughness. Being an emotionally literate leader is an essential nowadays if you are going to get the best out of your team.

Thrive’s model of ‘developmental strands’ absolutely helps us to see really quickly where there are gaps in our development as well as what might be helpful to target to support other colleagues’ skills development.
